Radio & Production Magazine is a great resource for radio producers. They feature a monthly CD compilation with each issue. I've contributed and received good feedback.

Despite the cynical comments people throw around
like dog-chewed frisbees, radio is fun and friendly. I
mean, how can you beat waking up in the morning
and talking to thousands of your closest friends?
There are few jobs better suited to someone like me.
I listen to music, I edit sound, I write, I create. The
best part is that I help other's make money by doing
what I do. (And I'm paid fairly for my work.) I guess
I'll go ahead and reveal my secret about working in
radio. This is such a technologically progressive
industry that the practical education I get on a daily
basis more than DOUBLES my salary if you consider
how much it costs to go to school to learn about these
things. I am constantly learning and working on new
things. There's never a boring day. There's a quote
that says a "mind once expanded never regains its
original dimensions." I'm currently in one of those
cycles where I am constantly stymied by the amount
and magnitude of information that is still out there for
me to soak up. I DIGRESS! Check out the station I
manage: 93KHJ.
I got a gig last year as Operations Manager at
KKHJ-FM/WVUV-AM in Pago Pago, American
Samoa. It is on a tiny island way out in the South
Pacific. So, on with the sunscreen and coconut shell
bikini! I've since moved up to GM and it's been really
rewarding. See photos of my Grand Adventure.
My past radio gigs have been very cool as well. I was
a two-time Copywriter of the Year producer for an
eight-station group in the Mississippi delta, Delta
Radio, Inc. The company owned WDTL-FM,
WRKG-FM, WZYQ-FM, and WDSK-AM in
Cleveland. Also, KZYQ-FM and KRKD-FM based in
Greenville. The coolest station to me, though, was the
all-blues station out of Clarksdale WROX-AM... the
same station that the legendary Early Wright talked
on. WKXY-FM is a simul-cast of the blues station.
The blues stations are still owned by my boss Larry
Fuss, while the rest were sold to Jerry Russel's
M.R.S. Ventures, Inc. of Tyler, Texas in August of
2003.
I also do production work for two stations in Juneau,
Alaska KSRJ-FM and KFMG-FM. Most recently, I
have found work making spots for western
Michigan's WMOM-FM and imagining for the
morning show on WIQQ-FM in Greenville, MS.
You can listen to a few of my projects by clicking on
the link at the top left of this page. These are just
commercials. I also remix music for dance and cheer
squads, create sound collages and provide the
occasional dub of the American National Anthem to
people who can't figure out where to find that sort of
thing.
If you're interested in trading voices for commercials
then email me and we'll figure it out. I do fast and
clean work with no BS factor.
The (radio/television/music) business is a cruel and
shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where
thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like
dogs. There's also a negative side.
